Let us touch the dying, the poor, the lonely and the unwanted according to the graces we have received and let us not be ashamed or slow to do the humble work.
A firm belief in the virtues of charity, forbearance, mercy and benevolence stated by the school motto, ‘Love your neighbour as yourself’ is the light that illumines every heart and spirit of the Agnel family.
The school motto invites all to accept, love and behave with others, the way you would like others to be with you. The same objective, a spirit of selfless service and a yearning to reach out to the community, led to the birth of PROJECT SAMVEDANA, which was launched with much humility in October 2014.
Our beloved former Principal Sr. Sherine’s brainchild, Samvedana, that means compassion, was initiated with the sole purpose of bringing a smile on the faces of those who have been , in the dusk of their lives, left unattended and uncared for. Needless to say, the project would not have been a success without the unwavering and unconditional patronage of our Director, Rev.Fr. J.A. Carvalho and the constant guidance and support of our Principal, Mr. John Dinakaran.
The project, meant to be a community outreach programme of the school, focuses mainly on the senior citizens of the nearby Khoda colony, who were identified by a door to door survey conducted prior to the launch of the project. These genuinely penurious people, who have been abandoned by their children or family members due to some reason or the other, have become an inextricable part of the Agnel family now.
Almost eighty in number now, these senior citizens are provided with monthly ration like flour, rice, oil, lentils, soap, clothes etc. on a monthly basis. Moreover, health check up camps are organised for them on a regular basis. This is done in collaboration with Ghaziabad Medical Association. Our students, who always tread forward as ‘ Big Hearts, Brave Minds’, feel blissful to celebrate festivals like Diwali and Christmas with them. The School Parliament, especially the Social Welfare Ministry has been actively involved in the activities of Project Samvedana, as part of their community outreach programme.
The entire fraternity of the school i.e. Principal Mr.John Dinakaran , teachers as well as students , look forward to have these camps in our school premises so that they can spend some cherishable moments with the senior citizens.
Ecstacy and inner peace are experienced, only and only when we exhibit love and kindness towards others. Let’s all of us hold hands in order to transform this small endeavour into a dream come true for people who are longing for a single ray of hope in their gloomy lives.
