Financial Literacy Drive

12 / Aug

As part of our Financial Literacy Drive, the Finance Ministry conducted an awareness activity for students with essential banking knowledge and practical financial skills.

The main aim of the activity was to teach students how to fill out a cheque correctly - a fundamental yet often overlooked financial task. Students were also introduced to the different types of cheques (Bearer, Order, Crossed) that are generally used, the significance of filling out a cheque properly, the consequences of improperly filling a cheque, and the Do’s and Don’ts to keep in mind while filling a cheque.

To get hands-on experience, students were provided with photocopies of real cheques and were asked to issue the cheques to their friends. Queries and doubts of students were also addressed.

The activity saw enthusiastic participation and gave students a practical understanding of financial documentation. It successfully addressed their curiosity and laid the foundation for responsible financial behaviour.

This initiative is part of our larger goal to promote financial literacy and make students financially aware citizens.
