PATRON’S DAY CELEBRATION

On the 20th of November, 2024, Fr. Agnel School, Noida, celebrated its Patron’s Day. The prayer service held in the school auditorium, which began at 7:30 am, was an opportunity for the school community to honor the legacy of their patron, Father Agnelo De Souza. The theme of the day, “Do everything in love to build each other up” resonated throughout the service, emphasizing the importance of compassion, service, and love in our daily lives, as exemplified by Fr. Agnelo.

The service commenced with a beautiful entrance hymn, "This is my Commandment,". A heartfelt opening prayer led by Ma’am Juhi, thanked God for His blessings and prayed for peace and love to guide everyone’s actions. Ma’am Renelle then shared an inspiring introduction to the life of Father Agnelo, highlighting his devotion to God and selfless service to others. Fr. Agnelo was a man of great simplicity, who, despite personal hardships and a life of detachment from worldly possessions, dedicated himself to the service of his fellow human beings. His death on November 20, 1927, marked the end of a life that was a living testament to the words of Jesus Christ: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” The celebration continued with readings from sacred texts of various faiths, including the Bhagavad Gita, the Quran, and the Guru Granth Sahib, promoting the universal message of love and peace. The readings were followed by the Gospel reading and reflection by Fr. Carvalho, which further reinforced the day’s theme of love and service.

The prayer service ended with the distribution of prasad, a symbolic gesture of sharing God’s blessings with all. This Patron’s Day celebration not only paid tribute to Father Agnelo’s enduring legacy but also served as a reminder for all present to live lives rooted in love, kindness, and selfless service.
